Pune : The Khed Taluka Krishi Upaj Bazar Samiti has launched an initiative to provide affordable meals to farmers at the Mahatma Phule sub-market in Chakan. Initially introduced as a pilot project, the initiative will officially be inaugurated by NCP President Sharad Pawar on January 3, as announced by Market Committee Chairman Vijay Singh Shinde.
Recognizing the importance of farmers in the state’s development, both the central and state governments have been focusing on agriculture-centric policies. In alignment with this approach, the Khed Taluka Krishi Upaj Bazar Samiti is offering low-cost meals to farmers. The meal, priced at just ₹40, includes chapati, dry vegetables, curry, and dal-rice. This information was shared by the operators, Manik Gore, Sayaji Mohite Patil, and Mahendra Gore.
Balasaheb Dhandre, Secretary of the Khed Taluka Market Committee, highlighted the significance of the Mahatma Phule sub-market, which attracts a large number of farmers, traders, laborers, and others daily. The affordable meal initiative has been widely praised by farmers, traders, and porters alike, who have expressed their appreciation for Chairman Vijay Singh Shinde and his team for prioritizing farmers’ welfare through this program.
